Solar Station Provides an Indian Village with 24-Hour Energy

The village is famous for the Temple of the Sun, built there in 1026. Modhera has also become famous for the fact that she began to use the sun’s energy, through a solar station, to provide electricity to the entire population of the village – 1400 people.

For example, Modhera has a 6 MW solar station with a 15 MW battery storage system located on 12 hectares of land. It is located at a distance of 3 km from the city itself.

In addition, small solar panels have been installed on almost 300 local residents rooftops, generating electricity. The plan to convert the city entirely to solar energy was born in 2020, when the local, national renewable energy ministry launched a tender for a pilot demonstration project.

The project aimed to show that it is possible to provide a small city with round-the-clock solar energy.

GreenPowerMonitor completed the project by building a power plant controller and energy management system (EMS).

According to the company, the city could provide round-the-clock power with the help of an innovative combination of solar energy with batteries and intelligent controls.
