Spain’s Fortia, Acciona Energía Sign PPA for Renewable Energy Supply

Fortia, an energy management network, and Acciona Energía, a subsidiary of Acciona, have signed a framework agreement for Acciona Energía to provide 1TWh of renewable energy annually for the following five to ten years.

According to a corporate renewable power purchase agreement (PPA), which Fortia claims to be the biggest corporate PPA with shipment for the industry in Spain, 20 Spanish enterprises will be provided with clean, sustainable energy.

The industrial users covered by the agreement may avoid emitting up to 120,000 tons of CO2 while also assuring a diverse, secure, and competitive power supply, which helps the huge industry achieve its sustainability and decarbonization plans.

As older assets near the end of their legal useful lives, Acciona Energía will provide the supply through its 100 percent renewable energy facilities in Spain as part of its aim to grow the number of new supply contracts and medium- and long-term PPAs for corporate clients. Acciona Energía is able to maintain a low-risk profile comparable to that of prior years because of this strategy.

While offering its clients access to renewable power at stable and attractive prices, Fortia will work to advance a more sustainable industrial and energy model while ensuring competitive costs for their industrial production.

“With this agreement, Fortia contributes to the decarbonization and sustainability of Spanish industry, while maximizing the security and competitiveness of its energy supply by facilitating access to autochthonous sources of renewable energy at a time of great uncertainty for European industry and the European economy,” said Juan Temboury, CEO of Fortia.
