Hitachi Energy to Provide Equipment for Offshore Wind Farm in China

Hitachi Energy Ltd., a Swiss company that was formerly known as Hitachi ABB Power Grids, said today that it will provide transformer and switchgear systems for a 280 MW offshore wind project being built in China by China General Nuclear Power Corp (GCN).

The wind farm’s 35 turbines will each have 66-kV WindSTAR power transformers and 72.5-kV high-voltage hybrid switchgears PASS M00-Wind built by this company, enabling the facility to run continuously at 66-kV voltage level. Hitachi Energy claims that the goods are made to help in increased transmission lengths, less inefficiencies, and cost-effective functioning of the offshore wind power facility.

The Tuci offshore wind project, which will feature 8-MW turbines, is situated off the northeastern coast of Xiangshan in Zhejiang province. The wind farm is anticipated to start operating by the end of 2022 and produce approximately 840 million kWh annually, helping China reach its 2060 carbon-neutrality goal.
