National Grid Renewables, Including Hydroelectric Power Plants, Surpassed US Nuclear Power Generation in 2021

The volume of electricity generation from national grid renewables energy sources in the US in 2021, for the first time, surpassed the generation from nuclear power plants, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) of the US Department of Energy said in a report.

US renewable energy plants generated 795 billion kWh in 2021, while nuclear power plants produced only 778 billion kWh.
The category of RES in the management report includes wind, hydro, solar, and geothermal power plants, and factories operating on biomass.

Meanwhile, renewables are the only way to help Europe eliminate dependence on Russian gas and guarantee energy security.

Many European countries have been using cheap Russian energy resources for 30 years. However, after starting the Russian special operation in Ukraine, Europe became concerned about its dependence on Russia.

Several countries are seeking to create an alternative to natural gas, at least in part, by installing more national grid renewables sources such as wind turbines and solar panels.
