Kyrgyzstan Wants to Build 100mw Solar Power Plant

The Deputy Chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers Aziz Aaliev met with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) delegation led by Regional Manager for Advisory Services for Public-Private Partnerships in the Middle East, Central Asia, Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan Munir Ferozi.

During the meeting, both sides discussed cooperation plans, including developing projects in the energy sector in the format of public-private partnerships, local media reported.

Aaliev said that the Kyrgyz Republic aims to develop projects in the field of renewable energy sources and stressed the interest in implementing a pilot project to construct a 100 MW solar power plant with the assistance of IFC.

According to him, it is essential to use the positive experience of introducing renewable energy sources to implement successful projects in neighboring countries.

IFC representative Munir Ferozi expressed readiness for further cooperation in implementing projects in the energy sector.

The parties agreed to establish a working group to resolve further issues following the meeting, local media added.
