Arab Countries to Increase Use of Wind Energy

Arab countries plan to increase the use of renewable energy sources by 2030. They will complete projects to increase the capacity of solar and wind energy, Global Energy Monitor reported.

The company found that with the help of planned projects over the next eight years, countries will increase the capacity of solar and wind energy to 73 gigawatts from the current 12.1 gigawatts. They set as their goal to increase the rate to 80 gigawatts by 2030.

Oman, Morocco, Algeria, and Kuwait will implement ambitious plans for using renewable energy sources.

Currently, the largest capacity of such energy is in Egypt (3.5 gigawatts), followed by the United Arab Emirates and Morocco, with figures of 2.6 and 1.9 gigawatts, respectively.

In April 2022, experts from the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) saw saving the planet from the climate crisis in increasing the capacity of wind farms and called on humanity to build four times as many turbines each year.
