Ford to Build Cars Using Renewable Energy Sources at US Plants

The Ford Motor Company will produce cars in the US state of Michigan using renewable energy sources, the company said in a press release, Reuters reports.

The company announced that by 2025 they intend to produce cars using solar and other renewable energy sources to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Ford Motor said it had signed a renewable energy purchase agreement with local supplier DTE Energy, under which the energy company will add 650 megawatts of new solar power to the automaker in the state.

The automaker added that the distributed power will be delivered to three plants in Dearborn, Wayne and Flat Rock that make the F-150, Mustang, Ranger and Bronco models.

On June 2, 2022, Ford Motor announced a $3.7 billion investment in assembly plants for electric vehicles and vehicles with internal combustion engines.
